| These show quality units are polished out to a brilliant shine so they look just like chrome, and will bling up any engine compartment. There is a big variable in the price for polished valve covers and it is determined by the hours it takes for the polishing company that we use. We have to ship the cover to him and then back to us. The cost for that service is 40.00 and it's part of the price. Then it is determined by how many hours he has to put into the valve cover. We charge 100.00 per hour so if he puts in 1.5 hours that figures out to be 150.00 + 40.00 which comes to 190.00 plus freight back to you. For even a low end show job it's going to take at least 3 hours which would cost 340.00. We go to great lengths on this version of polished valve cover. We start off with one of our better condition valve covers. One that doesn't have any gouges or deep scratches in it. First we clean it up in our parts hot washer. Then they etch the aluminum with chemicals. Then they go to a fine grit paper and sand it all down. Then they go to an ultra fine paper and sand it down for the 2rd and final time. After all that, they're finally ready to start polishing it. They have to do a 2 stage polish on it as well. A coarse grit polishing compound and then we go to the final step of an ultra fine polishing compound and buff it out to a brilliant sheen. Each polishing step takes a big buffer for most of the cover and then a little hand held buffer for the smaller areas like around the bolt holes recess. Usually on the area around the lettering he doesn't get in there at all with the small buffer due to the extreme cost. We can polish your existing valve cover if you'd like, but for this version, it must not have any gouges or deep scratches. We don't have any valve covers for sale that say 2400 or Turbo. The posted price does not include a $100.00, 60 day refundable core charge so be sure to figure that to your purchase price. The store will automatically add that to the cost at the time you make the purchase order. The trade in valve cover is subject to inspection for a full or partial refund of your core charge. We can't take just any valve cover and polish it up to these extremes, it has to be in good shape before we start. If your valve cover or your trade in valve cover has paint on it already, then we either charge you extra, or else we keep part of your core charge to cover our additional costs to strip the paint.
