Most L engines are interchangeable from year to year if the right combination is used. We know the right combinations for your particular year. For instance, you can put an 83 non turbo engine into a 70 240 as long as you change over all of the external workings like manifolds, crank pulley, etc. The carburated manifold will work on any L head. The injected manifold will only work on an injected head.
