| This is the speedometer pinion or cog gear that goes in the transmission. These gears are accessible from the outside of the gearbox, but it does take a special tool to change the gear itself once you've removed the gear/housing assembly. All speedo gears for these cars are color coded. This particular gear is red and has 20 teeth. It is for use with the 4.11 gear ratio in your differential. Note: if you change your tire height from stock then you should also change your speedo pinion gear to compensate. Changing tire height is just like changing the gear ratio in your differential, it does affect the accuracy of your speedometer. These gears are going obsolete in the US.
