| If you already have or are going to put an older Chev V8 in your z that uses a speedometer cable to the transmission then this part is necessary. The speedometer cable usually comes straight out of the transmission pinion housing and hits the trans tunnel because it's so close to the transmission. This causes a bind in the speedo cable and shortens it's life. The speedo cable is also going to be right next to an exhaust pipe which also shortens its life. This 90 degree take off gets rid of the bind and also allows you to have the speedo cable route away from the exhaust instead of right next to it. These units use a 1:1 ratio and screw right into the stock speedo pinion. Then the threaded cable end fastens to it. We do not usually carry these units in stock, it usually takes us about a week to get one after we place the order. We can also get custom made speedometer cables made by the same company that are Datsun on the top end and GM on the bottom end. Let us know the length that you need. Call or e-mail us for details. We can also have these units made for the Ford transmissions as well. Call or e-mail us for details. To date no one that we know of is making a kit for a small block Ford engine conversion. We don't make that kit yet either but we can do that if someone wants to contract us to do it. We also sell a lot of other items needed for the Chevrolet engine and transmissions conversions. Call or e-mail us for details. We also sell a custom made Frame stiffening kit that we make in house. See listings (Bullet proof sub frame connector kits). Last update 02/10 |
