| This is the upgraded version of the stock ignition and accessory relay for your z. That's why they look so different compared to the original style that your z or zx came with. There are 2 different types of original relays from the 76-80 era and they look almost identical. They are located on the right side kick panel above the fuse block. They are mounted upside down and can fill with water if you have a leaky windshield causing many problems. When re-installing this relay, we recommend mounting it either sideways or right side up so that it can't fill up with water. We also recommend getting your windshield sealed if it leaks of course. This relay fits all z's with a production date of 8/75 to 5/80. Your production date is located on the upper right corner of the VIN tag. The VIN tag is located on the B pillar of the left side of the car. The left side is the drivers side on all cars made for the US and Canada.
This relay uses an external ground wire which must be hooked to the body using one of the relay mounting bolts. The original style of this particular relay must have the case grounded to the cars body to function properly.
These relays are now obsolete in the US and Japan. We are going to be looking into making some new ones ourselves but we don't have any idea when that will take place. If we have numerous orders for these relays from our customers that will help speed up the process. In some cases we can repair the original relays depending on how bad that they are.
