| Sill plate for rear hatch threshold. Coupe only. They can be made to fit the 2+2's fairly easily if need be. When you open the rear hatch and look down at the plate that sits above the tail lights, there is a panel that is welded to the body and has the hatch striker sticking up through the middle of it. This panel is called the hatch slam panel, or hatch threshold plate or hatch sill plate. The hatch sill plate is a common rot area so we consider this a very important piece to have in stock for our z customers and for our own use as well. How this part compares to original factory piece These panels are a fairly close copy of the original panel, but they are not an absolute perfect copy. I've taken the time to set this reproduction piece alongside an original factory unit and they are pretty close, but they are not precise. The lines on this version are not as chiseled or defined as they were originally. The lip that goes under the hatch gasket is not as tall nor is it at the correct angle, but it is close. I can tell the difference as to which panel you have installed just by looking at it. If you have a car that is going to be a concourse restoration you should order the other version which by the way is more expensive but it's closer to the original design. We have that version hand built in Europe for us. If you aren't after a concourse restoration then this listing will work fine and it's considerably less expensive. We've seen this same piece (made by the same manufacturer) listed on another companies website and they say that this piece is exactly like the original. I'm here to set the record straight. So be advised that it is NOT exactly like original but it's good enough for most people. We're not afraid to critique our parts BEFORE we sell them. These units will fit all coupes from 70-78 but they must be spot welded or glued in place with a special body panel glue. We do have lots of pics on file of these units installed. They are designed after the 240 piece, but they will still fit in the 280 coupes. We have lots of other sheet metal repair pieces in stock and can order lots of other pieces.
