| This rubber boot plays a large role in keeping unwanted/excess heat, noise, & exhaust fumes out of your car. It fastens to the transmission tunnel, underneath the center console. It should have a metal oval shaped ring over it's perimeter that screws to the floor. Fits all manual transmission 1972-78 Z-cars including the 2+2. If someone has done a newer style 4-spd or 5-spd transmission conversion on the 70-71 240's then you need this oval shaped boot instead of the original square one, and you'd need a retainer ring as well.
